Patek Philippe Calatrava

How to Aquire a Classical Art Movement

Patek Philippe Calatrava

"We celebrate the notion that man is capable of creating art through the manufacture of timepieces."

Patek Philippe employs the unique manufacturing model of controlling all stages involved in the production of their watches.  This includes design, assembly, finishing and distribution.  This special model allows the experience of their master watchmakers to be passed along to new generations.

Limited editions increase the value of your timepiece

As most models are made in small quantities, when you own a Patek Philippe, you can be assured of owning an object of value.  Rarity is known to increase the value of virtually every asset.  Some models are made in quantities as limited as five, while with some of the better-known models, only a few hundred are produced.

What are 'Complications'?

When adding an additional horological function to their display of hours, minutes or seconds, Patek Philippe refers to this as a 'Complication', and the watch is then known as a complicated watch.

These fall into two categories - 'Complications' and 'Grand Complications.'

Complications include the addition of one or more hands that perform a timing function.  Examples would include an annual calendar or World Time with multiple time zones.

Grand Complications involve adding astronomical indications, such as chronographs, split-seconds chronographs and more.
